Caring for clothes ensures their longetivity. Moreover the fall and embroidery needs to be protected. Embellishments are high in children’s clothes as this the best way to add more life in a dress. There are accessories too like a mini purse, small tote carry bag and other detachable frills too. Caring for clothes is about the right kind of wash and wardrobe maintenance. Ironing clothes is again an art and care must be taken not to pull the smocking embroidery or avoid too hot a temperature.

Children’s smocking clothes are always in demand. As per the pattern and brand the price on the dresses varies. There are teenage smocked sundresses and also peasant dresses in smocked yoke. The extensive smocking pattern going up to waist is suited for slender profiles. Buttons and fasteners in the front open pattern of smocked dresses need further care and attention. The first wash for smocked dress is preferred to be dry cleaned. This ensures there are no wrinkles and pulling of the fabric along with no mess with regard to bleeding of the colour in the threads.

Machine wash needs to be on the gentle mode, tumble dry and with a fabric softener. It is to be remembered that children’s skins are sensitive and hence to avoid rashes a mild detergent to be used. It is always better not to mix the embroided variety in clothing alongwith routine washing. The lint from the other fabrics may get stuck on the light coloured fabric and difficult to remove. Further ironing the same with affix the lint on the dresses. Ironing to be done with mild temperature on a flat board. Care should be taken not to overheat the same. The easiest way is to hand wash and let the dress drip dry in shade.

Exposure to direct and harsh sunlight for clothes is again not recommended as it dulls the fabric and lessens the original texture. Smocked dresses have to cared for to maintain the pattern. It is not right to fold or stock the wardrobe with unkempt clothes as this makes the dress loose its shape. Elastic waists and sleeves require special attention and taken care while at ironing. Christening smocked dresses and bishop dresses are mostly the angel gown form with special yoke smocked patterns. It becomes important to hang the clothes so that there are no folds caused.

There are safe whiteners and also dirt cleaners as children’s accumulate a lot of dirt on their clothes. The idea is to soak the dress or the part that is spoiled and then apply the dirt remover on the particular area. Heed to careful instructions on the label while using the same.
